Nicola Yates, of Rothamsted Research (an institutional member of TAA), will outline the way the organisation has evolved and will introduce the latest efforts and opportunities at Rothamsted in its transition towards an ever-stronger international role. Most members of TAA are familiar with the world-famous Rothamsted Agricultural Research organisation, which until 1994, was an institute of the Agricultural Food and Research Council (AFRC). Like many organisations of its type, Rothamsted Research has undergone major development in recent years. It has widened the scope of its traditional role to further embrace global targets, international co-operation and partnerships in industrial research and development. This has been accompanied by major expansion and upgrading of the infrastructure and facilities at both the Harpenden and North Wyke sites. Our speaker, Nicola Yates, has been a member of Rothamsted since 1991, initially as a research agronomist working on Conservation Agriculture, then on Bioenergy crops. In 2016, she was appointed International Projects Officer and manager of the prestigious Rothamsted International Charity, which provides fellowships for scientists from low to middle income countries.
