Career Summary
Forty years of working experience as a Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Specialist in Sub-Sahara Africa, South Asia, South-East Asia, the Caribbean and Near East Regions under short-term contracts and long-term assignments with the African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Union, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Inter-American Development Bank, International Labour Organization, United Kingdom Department for International Development, United Nations Development Programme and World Bank.

Since 2002, worked as a short-term independent consultant specialising in the identification, preparation, appraisal, resource mobilisation, technical backstopping and review of programmes and projects focusing on: climate-smart agriculture (e.g. conservation agriculture, agro-forestry, water harvesting, on-farm water management, as well as post-harvest management/value chain development); resilience building (e.g. disaster preparedness, rural livelihood recovery and rehabilitation and disaster risk reduction), household food and nutrition security; and community-based adaptive research and participatory agricultural extension approaches (e.g. farmer fields schools and farmer business schools). Most of these assignments have been as an individual or as Team Leader of both multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams of technical specialists.
